By Road On the main road from Inverness (A87) distances to the Mains are as follows;
Inverness 1.5 hours, Glasgow 3.5 hours, Fort William 1 hour, Aberdeen 3.75 hours
By Train
Kyle of Lochalsh station is 3 miles from us and is the end of the West Coast line from Inverness which has a sleeper service from London Euston. Check www.scotrail.com for train times and www.city-link.co.uk for bus times. If you require collection from the train or bus please let us know.
By Air
Direct flights to Inverness fly from London Gatwick, Heathrow and Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol. Inverness airport is 1.75 hours away. www.hail.co.uk
Driving instructions
We are 1/2 mile off the A87 from Inverness to Isle of Skye.
From Inverness
Follow A82 towards Fort william, at Invermoriston turn right onto A887 which turns into the A87, always follow signs west for Kyle of Lochalsh/Isle of Skye (A87) then as below.
From Fort William
Follow A82 ( Inverness to Invergarry, turn left onto A87 signposted Kyle and Isle of Skye ) then as below.
Then....We are 3 miles before Kyle, (or 4 miles after Eilean Donan Castle ), you will see signposts for Glaick and The National Trust Woodland Gardens. Look for our signs, and turn left off the main road following the signs toward the National Trust Woodland Gardens. Follow the driveway downhill and take the first turning to the left as you come down the hill towards the shore.

You will pass landmarks on the way here; Eilean Donan Castle 4 miles away, Balmacara Hotel in the village of Reraig is 1 mile before our turn off, signposts for Plockton and Balmacara before proceeding 400 yards uphill ( the first proper hill climb after the castle )and finally turning left off the A87 at the signs for Balmacara Mains, Glaick and The National Trust for Scotland.
